Dr. Karen Joubert, who works with celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Puff Daddy, Cher, and Serena Williams, shares how her clients are turning to physical therapy for their fitness routines, pain management, and injury prevention.

While it is oftentimes that Hollywood tends to set the trends on these wellness movements, this is nothing new for us and we highly recommend this even if you are not experiencing any type of pain. As physical therapists, we are well-informed and expertly trained in how your muscles work and in all types of bodily movements. As the article notes, performers and athletes are motivated to stay at their optimal health, not only to prevent injury while working (sporting competition, concert, etc), but to stay healthy and live longer.
The benefits of staying active and healthy are well-documented and this isn’t something just for the Hollywood elite. We see more and more people turning to physical therapy for fitness and wellness to stay healthy and to live a longer live. At a high level, physical therapy will allow you to have a fitness plan tailored for you by a trained medical professional, provide you with an understanding of how muscles work for different activities, conditions your body to prevent (or recover more quickly from) injury, and helps to relieve any musculoskeletal pain you may be experiencing without the use of medication and its relative side-effects.
